Setting up your mailbox

To get the most out of your voice mail it’s important that you properly set up your personal mailbox.

STEP 1: Record your mailbox greetings

  1. Press the voice mail button on your phone and enter your password (0 0 0 0 by default). Press 5 from the mailbox menu.
  2. Press 1 to assign your no answer greeting
  3. Press 2 to edit the greeting, begin recording when prompted. A typical greeting says “Hi, you’ve reached Mitch Scott. I am currently on the other line or away from my desk. Please leave your name number and a brief message and I will return your call as soon as possible.” press # when finished.
  4. Press 1 to set this as your active greeting
  5. Press 5 to edit mailbox greetings
  6. Press 7 to record your mailbox greeting and follow the prompts to record your mailbox greeting (You can repeat the greeting you used in step 3). Press # when finished.

STEP 2: Record your mailbox name

  1. Press # from the main menu
  2. Press 7 for personal administration
  3. Press 2 to record your name “Mitch Scott” press # when finished

STEP 3: Enter your directory name

  1. Press # from the main menu
  2. Press 7 for personal administration
  3. Press 3 to enter your directory name
  4. Press 2 and follow the instructions to enter your name in the directory

STEP 4: Change your password

  1. Press # from the main menu
  2. press 7 for personal administration
  3. Press 1 to change your password
  4. Press 2 and follow the instructions to change your password.

Changing the time on a NEC Aspire

To set the time for your Aspire system:

  1. From the System Administrator’s telephone (normally extension 301), press CALL1 and dial 828.
  2. Dial two digits for the hour (24 hour)
    For example, 13=1:00 PM.
  3. Dial two digits for the minutes.
    You hear confirmation beeps.
  4. Press SPK to hang up.

Change your answer mode for intercom calls

To change the answer mode for intercom calls on your Samsung telephone system do the following:

Leave your handset on the hook and press the Transfer key and dial 103. Press the Volume up key to choose a mode. There are 3 modes to choose from. Auto Answer Mode, Ring Mode, and Voice Announce. Press the Transfer key after you have selected the mode you want to use.

Auto Answer will activate both your speaker and microphone when someone intercoms your phone, this mode is completely hands-free.

Ring Mode will cause your phone to ring and you must answer the call by lifting your handset or press the speaker key if you wish to use hands-free.

Voice Announce activities your speaker only, you have to lift your handset to talk back to the person calling you.

This procedure works on Samsung Digital Keysets.

Change the name on your Samsung telephone.

Start by leaving your phone on the hook and press the TRANSFER key.

You should see PROGRAMMING MODE and ENTER PROGRAM ID:

Press 104

If there is a name currently on the display press HOLD to clear it.

Enter the new name by using the key pad, example: for the letter “C” press 2 three times. Use the volume UP key to advance the cursor one space.

Press TRANSFER when you are finished.
