ORLANDO, FL — Oct 10, 2008 —One of the most attractive features available to VoIP enabled communication platforms is the ability to network multiple systems together across your WAN.  This allows you to significantly lower your communication costs.   Networking systems allows you to bypass your long distance carrier to call between offices (calls between offices are sent over the VoIP connection) and lower personnel costs (centralized receptionist instead of a receptionist at each location).  Factor in improved communication and productivity between your employees and you can understand why networking systems have become so popular.networked ux5000

For example assume we have an office in Orlando Florida with a UX5000.  The system is configured as follows:

4 telephone lines (555-0001, 555-0002, 555-0003, 555-0004)

6 telephones (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206)

Voice Mail/Auto-attendant

800 number (800-555-0000)

We are opening another office in California.   The system in California will have 2 lines and 4 phones.

2 telephone lines (555-1111, 555-2222)

4 phones (301, 302, 303, 304)

When these two systems are networked together it is as if it is one system.  There are a few things to consider:

  1. Calls from Orlando to California (and vice-versa) are as simple as dialing a 3 digit extension number.  There are no long distance charges!
  2. Outside calls from Orlando to a California telephone number (and vice-versa) are local calls.  There are no long distance charges!
  3. You can have line appearances and extension appearances for both systems on your phone.  For example, if a call is placed on hold one of the California lines you can see the call on hold in Orlando and answer the call by simply pressing the flashing line button.
  4. Both locations use the voice mail in the Orlando telephone system.  The California system does not need a costly voice mail.
  5. Both systems can be administered from the main system.  Since the systems acts as one you do not have to log into each location to make programming changes.
